*I am fascinated with storms and would love to be a “Storm Chaser” one day!- quite the opposite… my biggest fear in the world are tornadoes… so storms are not something I want to face on a daily basis
*My name is French- my mom is creative! She named me after her and my dad (Sharon and Larry). The “L” “a” and “y” are from Larry and the “S” “h” and other “a” is from Sharon. (which is why the “S” in my name is capitalized… and yes, it annoys me when people spell it with a lower case “s”)
*I’ve never been laid off from a job- When the mortgage industry went down… so did my job at Wamu back in 2008- a very devastating day!

Kids say the darndest things!

Too cute not to share! And mom... sorry for stealing this from you, but since you haven't updated your blog since MARCH... then I am reserving the right to blog about this myself! (wink)

My mom was keeping 2 of my nieces (Mallory and Morgan) a few weeks ago.

Here are the parties involved:
Mom (aka B-Mom)- Pop is in the pic with her 'cuz I couldn't find a pic w/ just her


Mallory (just turned 4 yrs old in June- my brother's, Brad, daughter)


Morgan (2 and 1/2 yrs old- Brad's other daughter)




My mom (who is called "B-Mom" by the grandkids) took the girls to a children's shoe store in their area. Morgan was in a pair of "squeaker" shoes... you know, the kind that squeak every time they take a step... yes, those that NO ONE wants to really allow a child to wear for more than 1 minute... but are absolutely hilarious for the first minute! Anyway... Morgan (who has my brother's silly sense of humor) was LOVING the shoes and just laughing with each step she took. Mallory was standing with my mom watching and my mom said "Ohhhhh, your mommy and daddy are gonna shoot me!"

They do a little more shopping around and finally go up to the counter to pay. Up until this point Mallory (who is a smart, smart little girl!) has not said anything. While up at the counter she looks at my mom and says "It's okay B-Mom, my mommy and daddy aren't going to shoot you... They don't even have a shooter!"

How precious is that!!! I just had to share!

Cowboy's Paaaar-tay!

So, I'm sitting at work Friday and I get an email from my hubby that tells me that the Kick Off Party for Cowboys training camp was that night!!! If you could have only seen/felt the excitement that I had when I heard that news!!!

That meant several things...

#1- we were going to have a GREAT "date night" at the kick off party!


Sorry for the dark, blurry pics! My camera is not on its best behavior lately and I can't figure out how to make it behave!

#2- we'd be eating healty food such as nachos, pretzels, etc


#3- I got to be around a bunch of other Cowboys fans!


#4- I would get to listen to a band sing and talk in ALL SPANISH!!! (for the 2nd year in a row)- BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

#5- I would have to make sure I didn't scream as much for my favorite players due to my recent voice loss issue
#24- MARION BARBER! (my favorite player)- along with #28 Felix Jones and #23 Tashard Choice #82- Jason Witten (Steve's favorite player) #94- Demarcus Ware (he's the one who signed my hat last year at training camp! One day I'm gonna get rich off of that hat!!!!) hat from last year... #11- Roy Williams (doing the "Hook 'Em" symbol! So fun!) #19- Miles Austin smiling like always #9- not sure who this guy was but the crowd went NUTS ;o) and before he walked off the stage his last words were "See ya at the Super Bowl!"... Boy how I'd love that!!!!!

#6- IT's ALMOST FOOTBALL SEASON!!!!!!!!!!!!

Meemaw's 90th birthday!!!

We had the pleasure of spending time with Steve's family as we all celebrated his grandmother's (Meemaw) 90th birthday! Meemaw is a very strong woman... and strong willed. :o) She has been very healthy up until the past year of her life. (I remember maybe 2 or 3 years ago) she was up on her own roof cutting tree branches down!!! Really?? I'm 33 and don't do that!



Over the past year she has fallen a few times so Ted and Sherry have taken Meemaw back to Temple to live with them. Meemaw has lived in Palestine forever and in the same house for over 50 years (it's the house Sherry and her brother's and sisters grew up in). Anyway, so needless to say that Meemaw not living there is really hard on her. We are praying for God to work out some things with that situation.

Sooo, we had the b-day party at Ryan's in Palestine. We rented out a little room there and there were at LEAST 53 people there! I'm not sure that everyone got counted... but we know we counted that many! It was crazy and crowded! It was all family with the exception of maybe 3 or 4 people I believe! Sand Volleyball Tourny

Steve and Titus played in a Sand Volleyball Tournament this past weekend. We drove up to Austin for the day. It was at a cool place called Aussie's.

The two of them have never played "sand" before... so this was their first time to play together. Steve was a little nervous about his "conditioning" and being able to play well in the sand... it's much harder than playing indoor or on grass. He got out there and played GREAT! He was in good shape and everything! I was so impressed... again, it brought back memories of us being in Abilene and I watched him play ALL THE TIME!

They played very well their first 2 games and won... but their last 2 games they had a lot of "mental" mistakes and lost.

Neither of them were too happy with the way they ended the day! So, they are playing again at the end of July and hope to come out and redeem themselves! I, however, am very proud of them and had a blast watching them play! And I also enjoyed my visit with Michelle as we cheered our husbands on!

July 4th 2010

For the July 4th weekend, Steve and I went up to my hometown, Burkburnett, to see my parents. We haven't been home since like October, so it was good to go home! We had the day off on Monday, so it made our trip easier and we didn't have to leave as soon as lunch was over on Sunday.

Our trip up to Burk was INSANE! We left SA at 4pm. It's usually about a 6 hour drive (maybe a little longer because we take the toll road around Austin/Round Rock). I think everyone thought this weekend was Thanksgiving weekend! EVERYONE was on the road!!! It took us 7 hours to get to Burk. It was very annoying to me! Anyways... we made it to Burk late that night. Jason and Jenn and the kiddos were all there so we got to see them Saturday morning before they headed back home. (Jason and my parents were the only ones still awake for us to see when we got in Friday night).

I had my first official Scentsy party. Jenn is so gifted at stuff like this. It may be easy to those of you who are good at it... but if you're not, it's a challenge and I don't even have an "idea" of how to set it all up good! So, Jenn set up my party for me! THANK YOU JENN!



Nanny and A.O. came into town for the day. Here are Julia and Johnathan giving them hugs before they left.


Mom, dad, Steve and I went and had lunch at Gene's Tasty Burger (Mmmmmmmm!!!) in Wichita Falls- (good ol' greasy burgers!!!). After that we went to my aunt and uncle's house so I could see my cousin, Tony Marie, who I haven't seen since my wedding day 7 years ago! She has been through a lot in her life and I was soooooo thrilled to see her! As soon as she came in the door we hugged and cried together! I love her dearly and am proud of the lady she is becoming! Anyways... we hung out over there for a bit and then headed home for some "nap/relaxation" time before time to watch the fireworks.

We headed to Sheppard Air Force Base to watch the fireworks. It brought back such fun memories! We used to go out there all the time when I was a kid. Everyone parks along the highway and watches the fireworks on the base! Below are some pics of the fun evening!

Here a family parked in front of us and thought it was fun to pop their own fireworks! This one (and quite a few others) they set off on the grass RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR CAR! Got on my nerves needless to say... but thankfully the smoke was blowing away from us or I would have had to have a word with them! :o)

Sunday we went to church and then had some pizza for lunch. We headed back to SA on Sunday evening so we could "recover" from the trip on Monday. It was a great weekend! Great to go to my hometown and great to see family!!

No voice

This post is for my "non facebook friends" to fill you in on what's been going on.

I had this "knot" show up under my jaw line (below my ear)... and I thought my glands were swollen. I remember the day it happened and I went home and showed Steve. It was a good size knot. I kept thinking it would go away. It didn't hurt or anything, but it was annoying. Welp, it was there for 4 weeks so I decided to call my doctor and ask them if I should be seen or if they thought it was nothing to worry about. Of course they wanted to take a look at it.

So, I went to the doc on a Friday and he sent me to get an ultra sound and x-ray done to check form lymphoma. He didn't want to worry me because he didn't think it's what it was, but he wanted to rule it out officially!

On Sunday (Father's Day) I wake up and my voice is a little scratchy. It got worse as the day went on. On Monday-(very raspy voice)- I go get the ultra sound/x-ray done. Side note: The ultra sound was kinda funny because the girl doing the ultra sound had never done that "part of the body" before, so she didn't really know what looked "normal". So, she ended up doing it on her own neck so she could compare! Kinda funny I thought. So... all is done with all that.

That Wednesday I wasn't feeling well at all and by this time I couldn't talk at all!!! I "talked" (more like whispered) to the doc to get the results of the ultra sound/x-rays. No lymphoma. YAY! They said it was a liquid filled cyst around my lymph node. They wanted me to go see an ENT to get it checked out. So, he called an ENT and got me in to see him THAT DAY... actually... RIGHT AWAY! I hadn't had a shower or anything yet! I threw my contacts in, brushed my teeth, threw on some clothes, and rushed to the ENT!

The ENT asked me "what did I do to get on the Pony Express?" Apparently, there's quite a waiting list to get into an ENT. When I was in the waiting room I heard people calling in booking appointments for almost 2 months out (that was the earliest appt available!)... and I got in THAT DAY! Praise the Lord for that!

So, the ENT mashes around on my neck. He comes back w/ 2 needles and tells me he wants to do an FNA (Fine Needle Aspiration). I have no idea what this is, and needles don't usually bother me, so I was okay with whatever he was gonna do... until he did it! OUCH! He had told me he found 2 cysts... so he drained the first one- no problem. The second one, he tried to drain but it was a solid cyst and he couldn't drain... and that hurt like a dickens! It felt like he was poking a needle into my skull!!! He told me that day it looked like the liquid was partial "puss" (sorry if it's TMI) and thought it could be an infection. He sent it for a biopsy and put me on an antibiotic for an infection.

That day the cyst was completely gone. It came right back the next day and this time it hurts... "tender" is a better word... but remind you before it hadn't hurt or anything at all for the 4 weeks it was there. I started feeling sick too. I was just "yucky" feeling all over. I was lethargic, had no appetite, no voice... AT ALL, and couldn't sleep even though I was exhausted!

Steve came home from the store one night with these:

Anyways... I'll start wrapping this up a little bit. But first, I wanted to share with all of you what my voice sounded like for 11.5 days! (the video was made on the 8th day)


So... on the 11th day was my "follow-up" appt with the ENT from the first appt. All that time I had been feeling sick and had NO VOICE WHAT-SO-EVER! Welp, I woke up that morning and went to work... unable to talk. As the morning went on, my voice started to get a little "rasp" to it... so now it was "raspy" rather than a "whisper". I was so excited... kinda! Inside I was annoyed because I wanted the ENT to hear it and tell me why my voice was like that! So... I get to the doc that day and have a pretty solid "raspy" voice. I told him I hadn't had one until that afternoon. He wanted to check my vocal chords. Of course I was great with that because I was getting worried. Seeing as my favorite thing to do is sing... this started bothering me after so many days of having no voice.

I will not go into the details... oh wait... yes I will! The ENT tells me all nonchalantly... "I'm going to clean out your nose and then check your vocal chords". That didn't sound bad, so of course I say "okay"! He proceeds to lean my chair back, pull up my nostril with a poky thing, spray (continuously) something up my nostril that came down the back of my throat... and it went on, and on, and on, and on! I start to gag! He stops. He then sticks THE LONGEST piece of cotton I have ever seen up my nostril. He leaves the room... leaving me laying back w/ a giant cotton swab up my nose!

Ten minutes later he comes back and takes the cotton out. He pulls out a "device" that has a very long, rubber tube w/ a light at the tip of it. I'm thinking... hmm.... that better not be going where I think it's going!! Oh... it does! Straight up my nose and down the back of my throat! He tells me to say "Eeee".... I said "Eeee" which quickly turned into "Awwwwwoooooooooooouuuuuuuccccchhhh!!!!"... very loudly! He moves that tube around a bit and then pulls it out! Ummm, I NEVER want that again! Good news is that my vocal chords were undamaged! Praise the Lord!

Now, about the cyst... it's still there, non-malignant and also not an infection. He's not sure what is causing it. He put me on a steroid and another antibiotic. The cyst has shrunk quite a bit... but it's still there. I had bad neck pains as a side effect of the antibiotic, so he pulled me off of that. I go back to see him again on 7/14 to see what to do next about the cyst!

Anyway... just praying it goes away totally so I don't have to mess with it anymore. I am very blessed that it's a minor thing. I feel bad when I am facing something so small, not life-threatening, and painless when there are people out there with WAY bigger problems than this. I'm thankful to the Lord, but I feel bad at the same time.
